African Walnut is one of the most desirable products in FERMA’s exotic collection. A wood commonly found in the Nigerian and Sierra Leone tropic, the African Walnut is tolerant to light shade, and can grow in top canopy forest or the lower story as well. The wood is also known to resist water well. Its heartwood is yellowish brown, sometimes marked with dark streaks or veins. Its sapwood is light gray. The texture is from fine to medium with grain usually interlocked with a unique and irregular ribbon figure that brings characteristics to its appearance. The product is available in 3 stained color: Teak stained which is brownish, Mahogany stained that is reddish and IPE stained, which is dark brownish or blackish. The wood has measures 1,500 on the Janka hardness scale. Dimensional stability is currently unavailable.
