The Right Glue

Larry Scott, technical director of DriTac, the leading manufacturer of wood floor adhesive, warned installers that one of the most common reasons for defects after floor installation is improper use of adhesive. Using the correct adhesive, the right amount of adhesive, the right trowel, etc. all can make or break an installation. For contractors who want quality adhesive, Ferma now carries professional grade adhesive: FERMA DT-9200 and FERMA DT-7700 manufactured by leading adhesive manufacturer DriTac.
Affordable Green Flooring
2010-09-07
Green and sustainable flooring has always carried the stigma of being more expensive than regular flooring. However, in recent years with improvement of technology, bamboo flooring has grown in popularity with increasing variety of texture and pattern, at the same time steadily decreasing in cost to consumers. Bamboo is a great green flooring material because they can grow very quickly under the right condition. At the same time, bamboo flooring is very affordable, and FERMA offers a variety of bamboo at different price points. Traditionally, bamboo came in two styles: vertical construction and horizontal construction, which dictates their construction when forming the plank. FERMA now carries the “Strandwoven” bomboo in stock, which comes in three basic colors: dark, medium, and light. Strandwoven construction offers greater hardness and wider application than traditional construction.

2010-09-04
The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), largest wood flooring trade group in the nation, has launched its Accepted Seals program to help manufacturers who are members of NWFA to earn recognition among consumers. The main purpose of the program is to help the consumer base to distinguish manufacturers whose products meet or exceed the industry standards. Although the NWFA has stated participation in the program is voluntary, but FERMA is planning to enroll in the program to earn the Accepted Seal to ensure retailers and consumers are buying quality products from FERMA.
Finding the Right Cork
2010-08-25
Cork flooring may not be a familiar term with the consumer but it has been a huge market in the niche flooring market. Made from the same material as cork bottle the green advantage of cork flooring over conventional flooring is tremendous because cork oak trees are not destroyed when harvesting for cork. Recent industrial development of cork flooring has enhanced the manufacturing process of cork to allow for easier installation and more variety of patterns. FERMA has been negotiating with several manufactures to begin producing cork flooring, which will be available to retailers in the near future.
