Laminate Maintenance
Laminate flooring is constructed with several layers, and because the “wear-layer” on top cannot be replaced, you do not want to do any of the following to your laminate flooring:
- Subject the laminate to a wet mop.
- Leave any standing water for extended period.
- Wax or polish it.
- Use any kind of abrasive (or even remotely abrasive)
- Use soap-based cleaners.
To clean your laminate flooring you should first try using dry, simple, non-invasive methods such as sweeping before using liquid-based cleaners:
- Sweep with a clean, soft-bristled broom used only for indoors.
- Vacuum visible dirt with vacuum cleaner attachments. Do not run the vacuum cleaner over the floor, unless it is designed for this use.
- Use a dry mop and/or a clean, dry towel over a regular sponge mop.
- Mop with plain water using an extremely wrung-out damp mop.
- In place of the plain water, and for cases you need extra cleaning power, use a special laminate floor cleaner such as Wilsonart’s Laminate Floor Cleaner.
